dare i say…annoyances?

Oh, the discomfort we all face! Who does not have that thing or things that nip at us? The pest of a gnat that never seems to go away. You keep swatting at it and that bugger keeps coming back! Have you ever wondered how something so small can drive us wacky? You know those pesky things that we think are bigger than they are. Well, literally, I am not talking about gnats. Granted, those gnats are such a nuisance for sure! But more the inconveniences of things that get under our skin. You ask yourselves how can you just let it be? I mean what can you do to not let them bother you. Do you just pretend it’s not there? The obvious answer is to let it go if you can. I know some things need our attention right away. However, there are others we can just set it aside and let it be. For instance, like the driver who cuts you off. Yes, you want to ram your car into theirs and teach them a lesson. But who do you think is going to have to face some serious consequences? Or how about the slow poke in front of you? Maybe just ride their tail end to get them to speed up. But what if they brake checked you? Uh, oh! Now that would not be a good ending...no pun intended. I think you get my drift to where this is going. First, we have to see it from another perspective. What if that driver who cut you off was late for work? And acted impulsively and yes recklessly for that reason. I am not saying that they were right in doing so, but what can you do to control that situation? You get mad, maybe curse or give the middle finger...whatever it is you do. But that is not going to solve anything; it only gives you high blood pressure. Perhaps if you take a deep breath and count to 10 to release that anger. In other words, THINK before you act. The same goes for the turtle driver. We do not know who is driving, why they are doing the under the speed limit or what their reasons are. We just know they are impeding our style and where we are going. That in itself is valid for us to be annoyed and want to explode. I mean we have every reason to have a tantrum and carry on like entitled beings. But again, how is that going to end up for us? It’s just going to be putting us in an unnecessary tizzy and raised cortisone. I mean who really wants that mess? I know I don’t. So let me put this in a clearer summed up synopsis. We cannot control anything outside of us. I mean ANYTHING! So, with that in mind, you need to work on developing time management skills and PATIENCE. Just think, if we left on time then we likely would not be bothered by the drivers. And our blood pressure would not be raised, and stress levels would be low. I know, I know we are not going to master any of this overnight. But if we just try to be more mindful of life around us, we would not be as afflicted with these occurrences. Your homework is to find ways to stay grounded and focused. When you have control of SELF then you can master your life more efficiently. Share what you do to stay aligned.
