Imposter syndrome

How many times have we just wanted to not do something? We would avoid things and make all kinds of excuses. We would dream up any scenario to make us feel better not doing it. Justify it all. Believe me, I have been there so many times! I cannot begin to tell you how many times I have done this throughout my life. Even as recently as such, I have been stalling on things I should do. I get into my head and talk myself right out of the thing. If we do this from time to time, then that is normal. However, if we always put off doing what we should then that’s a problem. Any way you look at it, the thing is only going to hold us back. Habits die hard, right? When we know where we need discipline, we need to act on it. It is only going to hurt us in the long run if we ignore it. We must ask ourselves the question...why do we hold off? Why do we hinder our growth? Once we see what it is then we can move forward in a positive way. For myself, the reasons are not being lazy. But more of imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is feeling like you don’t have what it takes to be successful or make a difference in your life or that of others. That is exactly what was going on in my head. I saw too many coaches that were making bank or truly reaching a level I could only dream of. I thought to myself, I cannot achieve what I desire. There are too many coaches who are way better than me. What the heck am I thinking? I still have those thoughts, just not as often. I have to keep reminding myself of who I am. I am not them. I am Jackie Ormsby and I can do whatever my heart desires. It can be obtained with whatever you want. You have to ask yourself why do you want it? If you have that thing, how is it going to benefit you? Or even others? What is the main purpose of getting that thing? Once you know the reason or reasons, then you need to keep that at the forefront of your mind. Let that reason be the drive that keeps you going. When you start to spiral, remember why you started the thing in the first place. Then pull yourself out of that frame of mind. Tell yourself, you got this! You can do this! We are the only ones holding ourselves back from any desire we have. We are the ones standing in our own way. No one is stopping us. No one is going to push us or move us forward. We have to remember who we are and just keep on keeping on. How many of you have had imposter syndrome? Feel free to share your story.
