JUST BREATHE

Oh no! This is not turning out like I thought it would! This sucks! How can I maneuver this in my favor? Why is this going on? I cannot do it this way. Blah, blah, blah.... does that sound familiar? We all have had situations that threw us a curveball out of nowhere. And isn’t this how many of us saw the situation? Had a bleak outlook? Negative thoughts popping in and every imaginable scenario played out? I am sure you have. When you start with that negative thought, it will keep spiraling downward. You need to stop it in its track before it hits the bottom. What if we just take a deep breath and do not react too quickly. Think about how much better that would be for our psyche. We will not spin out of control with all the jumbled thoughts. Remain chill and let it sit for a bit before any interaction with that situation. Then you can be clear and levelheaded. I know it is not always easy to just be. We are wired to jump to conclusions right away. I do know that many times that situation is not as bad as we made it to be. There were solutions to be found, or it just fizzled out. Either way, you really need to condition your mind not to react. Wait until you get all the information before you start freaking out. Breathe! So many people do not breathe properly. You would think that would be the easiest thing to do. However, many people do not do it correctly. When you take deep inhalations for a count of 4, hold to 7 and exhale to 8...you reset your parasympathetic nervous system (PNS). This breathing exercise calms, relaxes, and eases anxiety. Have you ever really just tried this? I am curious to know if you have. When I am faced with a “roadblock” I try to keep my wits about me. Breathing with this technique helps greatly! You would think, oh really? Just breathe and the problems just disappear? I am not saying they will disappear, but your anxiety will take a back seat. When something arises that was unforeseen, you can handle it in a lax manner. So next time something rears its head, and you don’t like it...BREATHE! You will be amazed by the benefits you get from a simple technique. Go ahead and share with me how it worked for you.
